and Safety Trainers Extend Machine Life with Refill TonerTopUp
Eldon Training Services offer Heath and Safety training nationwide
with their network of 43 locally based trainers. Their 15 head
office staff prepare and print all their course material, manuals,
handbooks and training guides centrally on demand because the
material is forever changing and they do not want to have out
of date stock. They use a variety of printers and copiers for
this and have moved over recently to more colour printers and
copiers as they have come down in price.
In fact with the cost of new machines being so low and the cost
of consumables so high they are often tempted to replace a machine
rapidly with a new one when the first major component needs replacing.
Their three new Oki 3200s only cost about £300 and a set
of Oki toners costs £280, without any of the other components
such as imaging drums. “Where a TonerTopUp refill toner
is available, it can help swing the balance.” says John
Steel. “ Not only do we save at least 40% overall and sometimes
get more toner in the refill bottle than the cartridge, but the
lower consumable costs mean that it is economic to hang onto the
machines much longer.”
“From my point of view there are two main reasons for refilling
with toner ourselves whenever the toner is available. The first
is definitely cost. However I don’t see the point of throwing
away what is a perfectly good container for the sake of it. Many
of our cartridges are just expensive containers but others have
print heads with cog wheels and other works in them. It is genuinely
a waste of resources to chuck all this away when it still works
alright. It is even worse when economics dictate throwing away
perfectly good complete machines rather than replacing the consumables
just because the consumables are so expensive. I am looking forward
to a refill toner becoming available for our new Oki C3200 printers” |
