Refilling
is a settled routine at Jaguar Business Forms.
Jaguar Business Forms are general purpose colour printers based
in Crawley in Sussex. Originally continuous forms printers they
now provide a range of extra services to their customers. These
range from labels and envelopes through to digital printing and
a complete billing service for utilities from design to the mailing
of the printed bills. Their main equipment for printing is a mix
of conventional litho presses and digital colour printers.
Their big, professional Xerox colour printer is on a supplies
inclusive service contact as uptime is critical. For their ordinary
office printers though they moved over to using TonerTopUp refill
toner a couple of years ago on cost grounds and have never looked
back. They have a gradually evolving range of 5 or 6 different
printers and fax machines from HP, Xerox, Canon and Samsung.
Now they are using refill toner, they tend to keep only one new
cartridge in reserve for each printer and just refill the cartridges
in use as they run out. “It’s a really easy process.
Either David or I do it. ” says Michael Woolger. “The
biggest problem is waiting for the iron to heat up when we start
a new cartridge and finding the right picture of where to put
the hole! We don’t do that very often as we get 2 to 3 refills
on the Xerox and more, up to 6, on the HP 2100. The TonerTopUp
refills work fine.”
“We have found that we get more refills on original rather
than the remanufactured cartridges that we were previously using
as the seals last longer and the small extra cost is easily outweighed
by the refill savings. On the Xerox for example we can get originals
for £110 and we were paying £80 for a remanufactured
one. Each TonerTopUp refill costs £30 and so overall we
save about a third in spite of moving from remanufactured to original
cartridges. It is broadly the same with the other models.”
“We used to have
a problem disposing of the old cartridges but of course that is
greatly reduced. Although we changed for the cost saving, refilling
is a small but welcome part of our company effort for the environment.” |
